Installation and retrofitting of the Hidden Socket | Versteckdose®

Here you can find out which requirements must be met for retrofitting the Hidden Socket | Versteckdose® on a switch and how radio switches are mounted.

Retrofitting Hidden Socket | Versteckdose®

If the Hidden Socket | Die Versteckdose® is to be retrofitted on an existing wired light switch, check whether the following requirements are met on this light switch:

Requirement 1

A suitable flush-mounted box

The flush-mounted box or mounting box should have a depth of at least 47 mm so that it offers sufficient space for the socket insert as well as the cables and terminals.

Requirement 2

Wiring suitable for an earthed socket outlet

First, the three most common examples, including two cablings that are not suitable for the installation of a protective contact socket:

A. Installation without junction box

A wired switch is exchanged for the Hidden Socket | Versteckdose® with radio switch. Depending on the system, the previous light source is switched with an actuator (EnOcean) or replaced with a system light source (Hue, Casambi).

In the flush-mounted box, the connection of the concealed box is made as through-wiring of phase, neutral and protective conductor.

The light source or the actuator as well as the radio switch of the Hidden Socket | Versteckdose® are configured via the app of the respective system. After configuring the buttons of the radio switch, it can operate the lamps by radio.

B. Installation with junction box

A wired switch is exchanged for the Hidden Socket | Versteckdose® with radio switch. Depending on the system, the previous light source is switched with an actuator (EnOcean) or replaced with a system light source (Hue, Casambi).

The phase, neutral and protective conductor are wired through in the junction box. This means that continuous voltage is present at the light source and at the Hidden Socket | Versteckdose®.

The light source or the actuator as well as the radio switch of the Versteckdose® are configured via the app of the respective system. After configuring the buttons of the radio switch, it can operate the lamps by radio.

The mounting on a flush-mounted box

The Hidden Socket | Versteckdose® is mounted on a flush-mounted box or switch box. It is attached using the mounting plate of the socket insert. This is screwed onto the flush-mounted box after the wires of the house power cable have been connected. Then the concealed socket is fastened over the pot of the socket inserted into the frame by means of the central screw.

How to prevent competing switches for smart lamps

Wired switches can compete with wireless switches for the operation of smart lamps. In particular, if the illuminant is switched off, it is no longer accessible for the wireless switch. You can find out how to prevent this here:
